Support Public Safety and First Responders
Reduce Property Taxes and Streamline Government
Misty knows families and businesses in District 9 are frustrated by rising costs and government waste. On City Council, she will fight to cut unnecessary spending, eliminate bureaucratic inefficiencies, and demand accountability from city departments.
She supports lowering property taxes by prioritizing core services, consolidating duplicative programs, and rejecting expensive, unnecessary projects that don’t serve the public interest. Every tax dollar should be spent with purpose and transparency.
Champion Economic Growth and Job Opportunities
She believes in smart, sustainable growth that enhances quality of life while protecting the unique character of our neighborhoods. Misty will be a strong advocate for economic development that creates long-term opportunity and prosperity in San Antonio.
Infrastructure and Responsible Development
District 9 is growing by leaps and bounds, and while economic development is crucial, we must also prioritize smart, balanced growth that preserves our quality of life. As your councilwoman, Misty will be committed to fostering economic opportunities while protecting the green spaces that make our community unique. Green spaces do more than beautify our neighborhoods—they help manage stormwater and drainage, reduce flooding, and create safe, enjoyable areas for families. Just as important is safeguarding the Edwards Aquifer, our most vital natural resource, to ensure a sustainable water supply for generations to come.
By encouraging thoughtful, responsible development, we can ensure that D9 remains a desirable bedroom community where families want to move and put down roots, and where our children will choose to stay and build their futures. Misty believes we must build a strong economy without sacrificing the charm and safety that make District 9 home.
Address Homelessness with Compassion and Accountability
Homelessness is a complex issue that demands practical, results-driven solutions—not just temporary fixes. She believes we must work to enforce existing laws that protect our neighborhoods from encampments while providing pathways to rehabilitation, job training, and mental health support. By fostering accountability and promoting self-sufficiency, to help individuals regain independence while preserving the safety and quality of life for our residents.
Misty will work with law enforcement, local nonprofits, and regional agencies to expand access to resources while ensuring the city holds itself and its partners accountable for real results. She is dedicated to implementing policies that balance compassion with common sense to ensure our community remains a safe and welcoming place for all.
Misty Spears is ready to lead with decades of personal and professional experience in District 9. She’ll bring accountability, transparency, and a strong voice for residents to City Hall.
